Millions people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene. It’s always interesting to discover new things and different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different music.

Those who live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurants. City residents usually like a quiet holiday by the sea and in the mountains with nothing to do but walk and bathe and lay in the sun. Most travelers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interest them — the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests, different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds. Later, perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy time they had.

People travel by train, by plane, by ship or boat and by car. All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one according to their plans and preferences. The fasters way of travelling — is travelling by plane, but in my opinion the most comfortable is travelling by ship and the cheapest is travelling on foot.

If we are fond of travelling, we see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers and see pictures of them on TV. The best way to study geography is to travel and the best way to get to know and understand the people is to meet them in their own homes.

Nowadays people mostly travel by air, as it’s the fastest means of travelling. Passengers are requested to arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure time on international flights and an hour on domestic flights, as there must be enough time to complete the necessary airport formalities. Before passengers get on board the plane, they have to register their luggage. Each passenger is given a boarding pass to be shown at the departure gate and again to the stewardess when boarding the plane. Landing formalities and custom regulations are more or less the same in all countries: while still on board the plane the passengers are given arrival cards to fill in. After the passengers have disembarked, officials will check his passport and visa. Then the passengers go to the custom for an examination of their luggage. As a rule personal belongings may be brought in duty-free. In some cases the custom inspector may ask you to open your bag for inspection.

According to the dictionary friendship is a feeling and behavior that exists between friends, but what these feelings are and what this behavior is, one should decide for himself. I think that friendship is a gift from the God. A friend should be faithful and sincere. Everybody has friends, because every person needs communication and contacts. But people are unique creatures of nature, all of them have their own habits, opinions, judgements which differ from others. That’s why it is hard to find common interests. But we have a wonderful notion «friendship» and one more «friends». You are interested in your friend with all his bad and good traits of personality. It is so, because he is you real friend and something helps you to communicate with each other; something more important than incompatibility of your tempers. Your friend can understand everything and forgive you. If your friend believes you he will always listen to your advice and follow it thinking it is right. You shouldn’t tell a lie to your friend, there mustn’t be hypocrisy in your speech and even in thoughts. Before telling something to your friend, before doing any work, you should think a lot and guess what kind of influence it will render on him and on his life.

Friendship can be compared to a tree. Its seed should find good soil and under good conditions it will grow into a tree. As the years go by the tree stands firmer and firmer on the ground. And if it is strong enough, it will survive all the storms and winds. But to help it, we should take care of it and love it.

Friend and Frienship

London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. It’s one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than 9 million people. London is situated on the river Thames. It was founded more than two thousand years ago.

London is an ancient city. It appeared at the place where the Roman invaders decided to build a bridge over the Thames. There are four parts in London: West End, East End, the City and Westminster.

The City is the oldest part of London, its financial and business centre. There are many offices, companies and banks in this part of the capital. The heart of the City is the Stock Exchange. The Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral are situated in the City.

Westminster is also important part of the capital. It’s the administrative centre of London. The Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Government, are there. The Houses of Parliament are often referred to as the Palace of Westminster.

The Towers of the Houses of Parliament stand high above the city. On the highest tower there is the largest clock in the country, Big Ben. Big Ben strikes every quarter of an hour.

To the west of Westminster is West End, the richest part of London. It is full of luxury hotels, super-markets, cinemas and concert-halls. In the centre of the West End the Trafalgar Square is situated with the famous statue of Lord Nelson.

To the east of Westminster is East End, an industrial district of the capital. Most of plants and factories are situated there.

My Favourite MealAt the age of 11 I was lucky to visit Italy; this country charmed me at once: I really liked its narrow streets, always smiling and friendly people, a bit strange but very peculiar way of life but most of all I was impressed by their cuisine. Now I’ve tasted many cuisines among which there are Japanese, French, Chinese, and Mediterranean cuisines but I’m still sure that Italian dishes are the tastiest in the world, especially pizza.
Though I’m quite a big girl I still clearly remember my feelings when I eat pizza for the first time. I remember a waiter who approached the table with my large pizza and put it in front of me. I closed my eyes and smelled it. The smell of pizza was unfamiliar but very taking, I liked it at once. As soon as I opened my eyes my attention was attracted by cheese on the pizza which melted in unusual form, it reminded me Africa. I spent several seconds gazing at my pizza and trying to find other peculiar forms but then gave up and started to eat it.
That day I thought that pizza was the most delicious meal in the world; frankly speaking, I haven’t changed my mind till now. I really adore it. When I invite my friends to my place to spend evening watching a film I usually order a pizza or two, every my birthday we celebrate in a pizza restaurant (each time it is a different pizza restaurant) and when I’m in good mood for cooking something delicious more often I cook pizza. It is really the tastiest meal for me!
I also want to admit that when I eat pizza I always recall sweet moments from my childhood, and if I’m in a bad mood flavory pizza can always improve it. For me pizza is not an ordinary meal it’s a magic part of my childhood that’s why eating of pizza is a special ritual for me.
